Maritime investigators said Tuesday they are expanding their inquiry into a collision between two cargo vessels in the Strait of Malacca, one of the world's busiest shipping lanes, after early findings raised questions about navigation system failures. Both ships suffered hull damage, and a small fuel leak was contained within hours, according to regional coastal authorities.

No injuries were reported among either crew, but the collision briefly disrupted traffic through the strait, which carries a significant share of global seaborne trade. Shipping analysts said delays were minimal and cleared within a day.

Investigators are now reviewing black-box data from both vessels alongside radio logs, with a preliminary report expected within weeks. Officials have not ruled out crew fatigue or equipment malfunction as contributing factors.
